The Clyde Riding Club

Welcome to the 2018 season for The Clyde Riding Club.

The Clyde riding club has been on the go for over 50 years, originally moving from field to field each year. However in recent years the club has remained in one location for each season offering competitions to all abilities of horse and rider.

Last Year the Clyde Riding Club moved to West Kype Farm Strathaven courtesy of the Anderson family and we are pleased to remain at West Kype Farm for the 2018 season. The club is run by a committee of volunteers passionate to keep the history of the club going. We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive bunch and would welcome any new members – there is something for everyone

"The Clyde" by Bobby Connor:

Bring your horses and ponies and come along,
To our little club where you feel you belong,
Show jumping, showing, cross country and games,
To give you a day of fun and pleasure is our aim.
We welcome new members young and old,
To compete for our trophies is your goal.
If a little help is needed we try to assist,
As long as you don't try to take the pi*% -mickey.
We are on Sundays through out spring and summer,
So give us a try we hope it won't be a bummer.
Snack van available to keep riders topped up,
We are The Clyde Riding Club, Gidy-up Gidy-up.

At the clyde we have 8 competition days throughout the season, eligible members can accumulate points in our points league for our fantastic end of season awards presented at the annual presentation night.

The dates are a mixture of 6 unaffiliated show jumping shows, 1 showing, games and handy pony show and 1 cross country & games show.

All competitions are open to members and non-members. However, to be eligible to win cups, trophies and special rosettes the riders must be a member of The Clyde Riding Club and have competed in at least 1 previous club day prior to the event on the same mount.

We have assigned recommended jumping classes by height of mount (see membership handbook for details). Points for show jumping will be accumulated when a member is placed in any class one below, in or above the recommended class. If the recommended height is too high then not to worry as we also have best junior and senior awards in each class over the course of the year, so there is something for everyone. There is no restriction on how many classes you can enter, but members will only accumulate points in their first two classes (if eligible).

For our Lead reins members each will get a sash and small trophy presented for their efforts at the end of the year and as such will not accumulate points.
